Why should you be using a personal trainer?

It's almost that time of the year again, and many of us will be making New Year's resolutions to lose weight and get in shape. However, studies have shown that most of us will fail and not achieve our goals.  How can we make sure that this year is the year that we reach our health and fitness goals and not fail? Maybe a personal trainer is the right fit for you.

So how can a personal trainer help? I know, I know, you can do it yourself. Have you been? The truth of the matter is although we all like to think that we can do it ourselves, sometimes we need a little help. But how can a personal trainer help us and why would they be beneficial?

When it comes to weight loss and fitness goals, there are a bunch of important factors that most of us cannot adhere to. For one, consistency. How many times have you planned on going to the gym and you don't go? You might have packed your bag, you might have prepared your food, but by the end of the day you're just too tired to go and you don't end up going. Does that sound like you of course it does. Many of us, although we want to, just don't end up getting to the gym. And unfortunately that kills our consistency with our program. Our bodies thrive on consistency and most of us just aren't being consistent with our workouts. By having a personal trainer, you're going to have an appointment which is going to give you that consistency that's so important.

Along with consistency is accountability. Let's face it, if you don't show up at the gym they really don't care. They're not going to call you and ask you where you are. So how can we establish accountability?  The answer is a personal trainer. A personal trainer is going to give you that accountability by expecting you to be there for your workouts and by messaging you on your days when you are not with them to be sure that you are getting workouts in. Let's face it we could all use that person to keep us accountable.

Another neglected use of a personal trainer is safety. Sometimes we forget that exercise can be dangerous. Many people suffer injuries, which leads to setbacks, disappointment, and ultimately you not achieving your goals. By working with a professional, they will make sure that you're using proper form and technique and they'll keep you safe.  Not only that but without proper form and technique you're not going to be targeting the muscles correctly and results will be slow if at all.

So are you ready to achieve your goals this New Year's? Then maybe working with a personal trainer is the right approach for you.
